Houston – In an announcement released by NASA on Monday, the celebrity space agency and textbook definition of the term “lack of funding” has promised that astronauts heading for Mars in 2030 will each be accompanied by their very own flat screen HD colour TV.
The announcement comes in response to an official query from the Association of Space Explorers (ASE), titled “Houston, We Have a Problem” wherein one potential #Mastronaut is quoted as saying: “Sure, this “going to Mars” business sounds exciting and all, but what are we going to watch when we get there?”.
While NASA seems to have accepted the ASE query as a legitimate concern, a representative from the American Psychological Association (APA) has suggested that the government agency may have just become the “most substantial enabler of TV addiction in the solar system.”
“It doesn’t take a genius to see that this query is just the tip of a very big iceberg; and by iceberg, I mean addiction; and by tip, I mean … well, tip I guess. Look, the average adult watches 33 hours of TV a week and doesn’t even realise they’re doing it. These guys actually titled their query ‘Houston, We Have a Problem’ and everybody knows that the first step to accepting you’re an addict, is admitting when you have a problem.” He went on to add that NASA was also the worst funded enabler of TV addiction in the solar system, but that that wasn’t really the point now was it.
The response to NASA’s decision however, has been mixed. CEO of Network 10 Australia, Hamish McLennan, has suggested that TV on Mars could be a brilliant idea. “Imagine something like ‘GOGGLEBOX‘ on Mars. Watching astronauts watching tv – in and of itself – would make for excellent TV!”
